Copy / Paste

Statusbar confirms copy Most people use copy and paste often. Among the top 5 commands in MS Word 2003, Paste was number 1 and Copy was number 3

Even a small improvement can make a difference in usability.

PpcSoft iKnow improves both copy and paste by adding confirmation to both actions.

As you can see in the example to the right, when you select and copy text the statusbar will turn blue and confirm that the copy was successful. It will also show a small sample of the text to confirm what you copied ("Meetings: - 11:00"..).

The statusbar message says "Copied RTF text" which means that the formatting is copied as well (colors, bold, italic etc). This is the default format as you will probably copy text between notes most of the time.

Copy plain text However, if you want to copy text from PpcSoft iKnow to an e-mail, you may want only pure text (no formatting).

There is a separate button for this, as seen in the screenshot to the right.

The shortcut key is Ctrl + Shift + C.

When you paste into PpcSoft iKnow it is always plain text if you have copied it from a different source than PpcSoft iKnow.

One of the most confusing problems with pasting text is pasting it to the wrong spot. if you have misplaced the cursor and then hit Paste, it will blend into the rest of the text, and it is difficult to know where the old text was, and where the new, inserted text is.

Paste is highlighted for 2 seconds To fix this problem, PpcSoft iKnow will automatically highlight the pasted section for 2 seconds to indicate where it is.

As you can see in the screenshot to the right, there is no doubt where the inserted text is placed (or what it is).

And if you pasted it to the wrong place, simply Undo (Ctrl + Z) the paste, move the cursor, and paste again.
